Meridian Systems Streamlines Real Estate and Facilities Projects By Integrating Proliance with Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies
Powerful combination allows customers to efficiently manage all data types throughout the plan – build – operate lifecycle
FOLSOM, Calif. (June 28, 2005) – Meridian Systems®, an enterprise software provider for optimizing real estate, construction and other physical infrastructure programs, today announces that Proliance 3.0 integrates with Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.
The Proliance® solution provides complete infrastructure lifecycle management (ILM) to organizations with significant capital project portfolios to efficiently plan, build and operate all of their real estate and other physical infrastructure assets. Proliance integration with SharePoint Products and Technologies creates efficient collaboration by allowing project teams to easily organize and access project data and manage project-related documents, all in a browser-based and Microsoft Office System–integrated environment.
Companies managing large construction and real estate projects must track both structured and unstructured information. Proliance uses XML technology to efficiently manage structured data, such as project budgets, contracts, schedules, assets, and work orders. SharePoint Products and Technologies complements Proliance by allowing users to create document libraries and folders for uploading unstructured data formats, such as CAD drawings, photo bitmaps, PDF documents, and Microsoft Office System documents.
“Meridian’s seamless integration with SharePoint Products and Technologies allows users to link any XML document in Proliance to any file stored in a Microsoft SharePoint library,” said Diana Beckman, Northern California General Manager for Small and Midmarket Solutions and Partners at Microsoft Corp. “Customers see this integration as providing improved collaboration, and we commend Meridian on its continued success.”
Industry leading architecture, engineering and construction organizations see this integration as providing improved collaboration. “Organizations can use SharePoint Products and Technologies as both a content management system and a file management system by configuring all Proliance projects and programs to as many SharePoint team sites as required,” said Keith Authelet, CIO of Gilbane Company, a Meridian customer. “Because both applications leverage a .NET framework, end users can work simultaneously between Proliance and SharePoint using one seamless interface.”
Meridian’s owner/operator customers also benefit from the Proliance integration with SharePoint Products and Technologies. Owners manage data during upfront planning for potential new real estate projects, during design and construction of ongoing projects, and for maintenance management for ongoing operations of existing facilities. A master set of SharePoint team sites and document libraries can be linked to potential projects, ongoing projects, and existing maintenance centers in Proliance. This allows the owner’s facilities management organization instant access to all the data that has been created during the planning and building process, such as as-built drawings.
SharePoint Products and Technologies integration enhances Meridian’s strategy of providing solutions to manage the entire plan, build and operate lifecycle for projects and facilities. Both Proliance and SharePoint Products and Technologies follow a zero footprint, thin client approach that is perfect for organizations managing geographically dispersed projects and facilities, yet need to centrally store and manage project data for executive visibility and business intelligence.
